Limited movement

November 17 marked the first day of rifle season this year. I had a virus and missed the opening weekend and was unable to hunt, however I have been a few times since then with limited success. I have only seen one deer, a four point buck. This is odd because I normally see a large number of does while hunting but have not seen a single one this year! Hopefully this will change in the week to come!

Duck Hunting

Last weekend marked the opening weekend of duck season. I have not had the privilege of getting to go hunting just yet, but I have heard that the duck population seems to be quite strong, which is not the norm for this time of year! In years passed I have struggled at this time of year with a limited duck population, so this sounds promising! I cannot wait to get out with a group of the guys and sit around and talk while shooting the occasional duck!

Success (Finally!)

After many hours spent in the woods without seeing any deer, I finally saw a nice buck today! I had only been sitting for about 45 minutes when a buck walked toward me and presented me with a shot. Shooting him brought an end to my muzzleloading season for the year, so now it is time to start focusing on rifle season which, in the area I hunt, is two weeks long and steches from November 17 until December 1st. I will be allowed to shoot a buck and a doe. Also, this weekend marked the opening of duck season, so I will have updates on how the Southeastern Oklahoma duck population looks this year (that is a redneck topic, but I am who I am!)
